Obi Okoli is a leading Nollywood Nigerian actor, producer, director, University Lecturer and former Broadcaster.

He attended Agulu Grammar School, Agulu for his secondary school education.
Thereafter he proceeded to study Theatre Arts at the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI). He graduated with honours in 1979.
He also trained at the Colorado Film School.
He completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in 1980.
Career
After his service, Obi secured employment as a broadcaster at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Aba division. During his time with the station, he wrote, directed and produced TV series and documentaries.
He also anchored news shows at NTA. He worked with the station for eighteen years from 1981-1999.
In a career spanning over three decades, Obi has featured in several Nollywood movies. He acted in the Nollywood adaptation of Chinua Achebe‘s book, Things Fall Apart in 1985.
Other movies he has acted in include, The Trip, King of Kings, Venom, Not Alone, Idejimba, My Father’s Love, Royal Deceit, amongst others.
He is the founder and CEO of the production company, Idejimba Films.
In 2019, he produced a movie, Like A Diamond.

In 2011, he joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a lecturer. He has been teaching in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies for the past nine years now.

Obi Okoli is happily married. He has been married for the past 34 years. He and his wife, Ajie Okoli, had tied the knot on the 5th of December 1987. The wedding was held at St. Michael Cathedral, Aba.
Their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.
