While performing at a fundraiser for The McDonald College, de Leon was discovered by a director for the Cameron Macintosh company. She went on to appear in two of their musicals, Miss Saigon and Rent, where she was an understudy and dance captain.
In 1998, de Leon was cast in the children’s TV series Hi-5, where she performed with a puppet character named Jup-Jup. She remained with the show until 2007, when she left to focus on raising her daughter Mikayla.
As of 2015, de Leon and her family resided in Las Vegas. In 2016, they indicated they would one day look to move back to the Gold Coast in Australia, which they did in 2026.
